Privacy Policy
Effective 27 July 2026
This policy applies to the Anneal app and to this website.
Contents
1. What we collect
By default: nothing. Anneal needs no account and no sign-up to work. Every workout, set, program, and gym profile you log is stored in a local database on your own device.
The app has no ad tech and includes no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs that watch how you use it. The charts and stats you see in the app (progress curves, PRs, weekly volume, recovery) are computed on your device from your own local data and never leave it as part of this.
2. Apple Health data
With your permission, Anneal reads a small set of Health data to help it coach you:
- Heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep, to estimate how recovered you are each day.
- Weight, age, and biological sex, to estimate calories for a workout.
With a separate permission, Anneal writes each finished workout back to Apple Health as a strength-training entry, so it counts toward your Activity rings. On Apple Watch, Anneal can read your heart rate live during a workout to show it on your phone in real time; the Watch app itself never saves a workout to Health.
All of this happens directly between the app and Apple's HealthKit, on your device. Health data is never uploaded to a server, never included in cloud sync, and never leaves your device.
3. Optional account and cloud sync
Anneal works fully, forever, with no account. If you want your data on more than one device, you can optionally sign in with Apple or Google to turn on cloud sync.
When you're signed in, this syncs: your workouts and sets, programs, gym profiles (including any equipment photos you add), and app settings (units, targets, and similar preferences). It does not sync your Health-derived readiness data, which stays on-device regardless of whether you're signed in.
Signing in uses Firebase (a Google Cloud service) to store this data under your account. Only you can access it: it's protected by rules that restrict it to your signed-in account alone.
Signing out leaves the copy of your data on your device untouched and simply stops syncing. A separate "Delete my account" action, also in the app, permanently removes your synced data from our servers; it does not touch the data that already lives on your device.
4. Purchases
Any Pro upgrade is purchased through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and handles your payment details directly. We never see or store your card or billing information, only whether a purchase was made.
5. Website and waitlist
This website has no analytics, tracking pixels, or ad technology.
The beta waitlist form isn't fully wired up yet. Once it is, the only thing it will collect is the email address you submit, used solely to send you launch and beta updates: nothing else, and never sold or shared.
6. Children
Anneal is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app develops. If we do, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the update.
